The Centre of Excellence for Rural Development (CERD) possesses extensive experience in conducting research surveys, assessments, and evaluation studies. Our proven ability to carry out comprehensive research demonstrates our capacity to support informed decision-making in the humanitarian and development sectors.

Research Excellence

Over the past five years, CERD has successfully completed a variety of assessments, including need assessments, evaluations, baselines, Knowledge, Attitude, and Practices (KAP) surveys, Training Needs Assessments (TNAs), and stakeholder consultations. We have partnered with leading international and local agencies, such as RAHA-UNDP, UNHCR, GIZ, ICIMOD, IRC, Pakistan Village Development Program (PVDP), and ASF.

Our dedicated research team excels in timely and high-quality documentation and reporting. Our growing library of publications includes a diverse range of research and reports, which we utilize for internal project planning and share with the broader humanitarian and development community.

  • Beneficiary Perception Survey for World Bank Pakistan in Khar Township, Bajaur Agency (2016).
  • Health Impact Survey across 38 villages in 5 Tehsils of Bajaur Agency for FATA Secretariat (2015).
  • End of Project Impact Study in Nowshera for Pakistan Village Development Program (PVDP) (2013).
  • Major Infrastructure Assessment Study in Refugee-Affected and Hosting Areas (RAHA) across 23 UCs of District Peshawar for RAHA-UNDP (2012).
  • End of Project Evaluation for the Community Empowerment and Livelihood Improvement Project with PVDP.
  • Baseline Study for Farmers Enterprise Groups in horticulture and livestock in Dera Ismail Khan for Agri Business Support Fund (ASF).
  • Baseline Study of Community Physical Infrastructure Schemes and Micro Hydro Power Stations in Shangla.
  • Conducted 12 Basic Needs and Damage Assessment Surveys post-2010 floods for UNHCR, UNICEF, WFP, and other donors.
  • Disaster Preparedness and Risk Management Study in collaboration with GIZ, ICIMOD, and the University of Peshawar.
  • Mapping and Assessment Study to identify unvaccinated mothers and newborns in District Peshawar.
  • Damage Needs Assessment in Swat, Buner, and Dir districts.
  • Completed over 20 baseline studies for projects including Child Protection, WASH, and Community Physical Infrastructures.

Collaborative Projects

CERD actively collaborates with various organizations to implement impactful projects:

  • Vocational Training Program for flood-affected populations in UC Pushtoon Garhi, District Nowshera, in partnership with Al Falah Development Foundation (2010).
  • Livelihood Project for war-affected populations in Mula Gori, Khyber Agency, in collaboration with Khair Khegara Tanzeem (KKT) with GIZ support (2010-2012).
  • Livelihood Project for war-affected populations in FR Peshawar, in association with local partner DEWAH and supported by GIZ (2010-2012).
